Red, White and BOOM!

Stay home this Independence Day and celebrate America’s birthday with the City of Hondo. Supported by the Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce, the City is excited to proclaim Red, White and Boom will be held Wednesday, July 4.

Red, White and Boom is an all-day festival providing fun and excitement for the whole family including a 5k color run, live music, a patriotic pet contest, waterslides, food vendors, a pet-faire on the square, pet adoptions and of course, a beautiful firework’s display - all without leaving the city.

Get your running shoes on and participate in the 5k color run starting at 7:30am at Memorial Square then stick around to witness the presentation of colors by American Legion Post 128 and sing along to the National Anthem. Join Hondo’s own City Mayor Jim Danner in welcoming visitors and the birth of our great nation.

Enjoy free activities all morning at Memorial Square including a patriotic pet parade and costume judging at 9:30 followed by face painting, games, food, a K-9 presentation, pet adoption and a petting zoo!

Later in the day, head out to Hondo City Park #1 for the very best in local live music by Dalton Lane beginning at 3:30 followed by Landry Scott Ritter with Double Bogey at 5:00 and finish the series with City View starting at 7:30.

Bring the kids ready to get wet! 3 large inflatable water slides will run throughout the day offering a frolicking good time ensuring hours of entertainment for kids of all ages (at a nominal fee). The Hondo City Pool will also be open and offering free swim all day.

No need to rush off to find the perfect picnic fare as several food vendors will be available all day to satisfy your hunger.

Pack along your lawn chair and a blanket as Pirate Fireworks, a family owned company providing over 20 years’ experience in providing safe, memorable fireworks displays, will begin their show following the live music at approximately 9:30.

Gates open at 3:00 and admission is free. For more info and food vendor applications visit our Events page. Be sure to “Like” the chamber’s Facebook page for updates and time sensitive information.
