What a wonderful fall it has been! Even all the rain hasn't been able to dampen the spirit of the season. Our fall frenzy produced an amazing Shop Hop and Scarecrow Contest. Thanks to all the businesses who participated and to the wonderful patrons who came out to support our community!
On November 11, the movie, Texas Cotton, will be showing at the Raye Theatre at 5 p.m. Parts of this movie were filmed right here in Hondo and Castroville! Here's a brief synopsis:
The once thriving town of La Coste, Texas is suffering a seemingly endless crop plague. Farms are failing. The land is abandoned. Families are leaving in droves. The crime-thriller follows Travis Delmore, an aging lawman who's seen his small community go from boom to bust in less than a decade. He watches helplessly now as the remaining townsfolk curse their luck and resign themselves to a bleak future. Everything changes when Delmore arrests Joe, a mysterious stranger who is caught "spraying things" and who claims he's been hired to revive the town's farmland. As Joe's story unravels, however, the Mayor soon suspects this outsider is responsible for causing the entire plague. The angry locals demand swift justice, but the clues don't add up for Delmore who stirs up a hornet's nest of trouble and ultimately turns the whole town against him. The stunning climax leaves more than one man dead and the people of La Coste changed forever.
