Get ready for the Tour of Vacant Buildings and the Heritage Festival!

We had a terrific March with our first ever Restaurant Week in the Hondo area. There were 14 member businesses that participated, and they offered delicious new menu items, great specials, and amazing discounts. Thank you to everyone who dined out during Restaurant Week. We hope you enjoyed it, and we can't wait for the next one in the fall! A huge thank you to all of our restaurants:

Bill & Rosas, Castroville Cafe, Country Mart, Cowboys, El Restaurante Azteca, Fremdes, Heavys, Hermann Sons Steakhouse, Hillside, Hondough Pizza, Juliannas, Magnolia Filling Station, Medina Regional Hospital Cafe, and Vaqueros!

Now on to April! We have 2 great events coming up--the Tour of Vacant Buildings and the Heritage Festival, and they're both happening on the same day!

Have you ever wondered what is in the 2nd and 3rd stories of some of our downtown buildings? Or maybe a particular shop on a corner that seems to have been vacant for a long time. Well wonder no more. The Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the Tour of Empty Buildings. This self-guided tour, complete with maps, will be April 27, 2019. Tour packets will be available for pick up at the chamber office beginning April 22, and will also be available at the chamber office the day of the tour.

The buildings to be included on the tour are currently listed as for sale, lease or rent. Several local realtors and building owners will be present to answer important questions regarding square footage, cost, condition, etc.

This event was created primarily to see empty buildings filled, to showcase current businesses already in Hondo and bring attention to beautiful buildings that have so much life left in them. The Hondo Area Chamber of Commerce hopes this tour will encourage growth, band our businesses together, beautify our city, and create jobs.

Next up, the Heritage Festival! We are excited to be partnering with the Medina County Museum and the City of Hondo to present this wonderful event!

This festival will be taking place on April 27 from 10-4 at the Medina County Museum. There will be various musical groups and performances, a variety of food, a museum scavenger hunt, a sweet tea contest, and so much more!

Make plans to attend the Heritage Festival as we celebrate our diverse cultures in Medina County!

We look forward to seeing you on April 27th for both of these fantastic events!
