May flew by, didn't it? Another school year has come to a close, and summer has arrived. We had a busy month and are gearing up for some big events this summer.
Earlier this month, we kicked off Small Business Week with our Cinco de Mayo Shop Hop. Despite the rain that blew through that evening, it was a great turnout, and as always, our local retail stores did not disappoint! They offered fantastic deals, great giveaways, and yummy refreshments. Well done!
During Small Business Week, we offered free computer classes at the Hondo Public Library during the lunch hour. Our wonderful librarian, Elsie Purcell, covered basic and intermediate instruction of Microsoft Office programs. Our amazing HACC Executive Director, Roxanne Carter, instructed on Social Media and Graphic Design programs. These courses were chosen based on feedback we had received from the community and business owners. We appreciate the support of the Hondo Public Library in partnering with us to bring these services to our area.
Our Heart of Home Sweet Hondo Award winners were announced during Small Business Week as well. Our 3rd runner up was Summit Landscape and Design. Our 2nd runner up was Ralph AC. Our 1st runner up was Mainstreet Mercantile. And our Heart of Home Sweet Hondo Award winner was Sorellas Boutique. All of these businesses possess such a heart for our community, always going above and beyond for their customers.
On to summer plans...
