Celebrate Your 4th of July in God's Country!

July 4th is almost here, and we have you covered! Red, White and Boom is an all-day festival providing fun and excitement for the whole family including a 5k color run, a Dachshund derby, live music, a patriotic pet contest, knockerball, food vendors, a pet-faire on the square, and a beautiful firework’s display - all without leaving the city. Start your morning off with a bang by participating in the 5k color run beginning at 7:30 am at Memorial Square. At 8:30, be sure to get your pet registered for the Dachshund Derby and/or the Pet Parade Costume Contest. Then at 9 am, witness the presentation of colors by American Legion Post 128. The Pet Faire on the Square kicks off at 10 am. Watch the Dachshund Derby and see which furry friend takes home the prize. At 11, the pet parade and costume judging will commence. So many cuties to choose from! This will be a morning full of entertainment and activities that you won’t want to miss! The Hondo City Pool will also be open and offering free swim all day.That evening, at 6 pm, head out to Hondo City Park #1 to enjoy live music by the El Dorado Band. They play a variety of music including country, Tejano, oldies, and rock—something for everyone!Have you ever played knockerball?!? Here’s your chance! Alamo Knockerball LLC will be set up from 6-9. For a nominal fee, you can experience all the fun this game offers. There will also be FREE waterslides for the kids to enjoy throughout the evening. Plus, there’s no need to rush off to find the perfect picnic fare as several food vendors will be available all day to satisfy your hunger. Pack along your lawn chair and a blanket as Pirate Fireworks, a family owned company providing over 20 years’ experience in providing safe, memorable fireworks displays, will begin their show following the live music right at dark. Gates open at 6:00 and admission is FREE. We look forward to seeing you there!

New Teacher Luncheon

Our New Teacher Luncheon will take place on August 9th at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Hondo. We appreciate the hard work our teachers put in throughout the year, and we want to welcome the new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. Hunt Hondo

We are so excited about Hunt Hondo! We are changing up the venue, expanding our Outdoors Expo, and bringing back all of your favorites, like Parisa Pachanga! We will be having Hunt Hondo on August 31 at the Medina County Fair Hall and park grounds. The morning will kick off with our Outrun the Gun 5k at 8 a.m., and then we will have our Camo Kids Contest at 10. Our Outdoors Expo will be inside and outside the Fair Hall from 10-4. If you have an outdoor related business and would like to be a vendor for our Outdoors Expo, be sure to sign up under our Hunt Hondo event on our website. Indoor spots are limited, so get registered today!

Come back that evening at 7 for our Parisa Pachanga Contest and Dove Dance. You won't want to miss a minute of Hunt Hondo!
